Twiggy’s praise for Expo

"GenerationOne are excited to return to Broome and partner with the successful NW Expo. Broome is one of the perfect places to eliminate the disparity through the elimination of reliance on welfare by government and Indigenous people alike through the availability of jobs and training to dramatically improve lifestyles. The GenerationOne movement and the 50,000 jobs initiative has corporate Australia committed to tens of thousands of life changing jobs however employer directed training for Indigenous Australians has always been missing and it is now our turn - our generation to change that. 2011 is our opportunity to deepen our relationships with the community and local business. As part of the partnership we are excited to host a consultation panel with the Broome business community about industry training for guaranteed jobs." Andrew Forrest

As part of their participation in the Expo, GenerationOne will host a public forum as part of the consultation phase of the "Skills and Training for a Career" draft policy. GenerationOne wants to engage with local businesses, employers, employees, training organisations, industry groups, contractors, and those who are working to play their part to create sustainable employment outcomes for Indigenous Australians. Crucial to this is input from Indigenous people, so GenerationOne can better understand how life-skills and job-specific training impact on employment outcomes.

GenerationOne will supply a thought-provoking panel to encourage participants to discuss some of the elements of the "Skills and Training for a Career" consultation.

Saturday 7 May – 11am to 12:30pm, North West Expo Business Centre
